Why does my cat bring me TOY mice?
Okay, I’ve had a great laugh reading all the posts about kitties who are bringing live Presents into the house, but nothing on the quirky habits of my own furball. I have two indoor siamese – a male and a female – and the male does the “mouse howl” and brings me one of his toy mice. He does this almost every night as soon as we go lights out, but sometimes he also does it during the day, dropping the mouse at my feet. (In those instances, I’m not sure if I will insult or delight him if I hurl it down the hallway – he loves playing fetch … yes, he thinks he’s a dog.) So what’s up with THAT? Why is he bringing me FAKE mice? Is he really just trying to help feed the tribe? And should I play fetch? Or is that throwing away his gift? All this because today when I got out of the shower I saw that he had left me a ‘gift’ on the bath mat. (Yes, I am grateful they’re not real … but it’s still puzzling … and weird)
WELL He may be bringing you the mouse as HERE IS FOOD! But if he knows its a toy then maybe just fetch. My friend’s cat brings him dead mice, and birds and things. The cat is basically saying “Here, I thought you were hungry I brought you some food.” So I am not sure maybe he is giving it to you to feed you since you feed him. if he leaves it, its food, if he sticks around to fetch it then its a toy for the moment. I think its a gift for you.
